I just returned from two tours in Afghanistan. My LP conga has been detuned, and in the closet for 3 years (room temperature and dry).
Are there any special considertions to be taken before tuning?

If the head is very tight even though you may have detuned it before leaving it could have very well shrunk. Either moisten the head in the center with water to allow the head to relax gradually or purchase a new replacement head.
